mary oleary is a new york city-based independent art researcher and critic, primarily working in exhibition analysis. Through analysis and research, she examines exhibitions based on quantifiable data, such as formalist qualities, or artist attributes, as points of consideration for critiques. Her research practice has evolved to include extensive and/or intensive projects that interrogate aspects of visual culture.

Since 2018, mary oleary has been the host of a monthly contemporary art meet-up, gallery goers (formerly galleryGRRRLS), an art-viewing and reading series.

Currently, she is setting the groundwork for The Exhibition Archive, a dynamic catalog of immersive and performance art.

Other interests include cats and composting.
