Background & Design Brief

Concrete by Concrete explores material dialogue in the sculptural realm, conceptually and physically. Juxtaposing the concrete poetry of Helen Mirra, in her dynamic text Cloud, the 3, with pieces of sculpture realized utilizing the industry material by artists Habby Osk, Julia Philips, Gabriela Salazar, Melissa Sclafani, and Davina Semo.

Winding thru a curated path of georgette fabric stretched on metal studs, with selected excerpted text from Mirra silk screened, viewers walk through the post-industrial Sculpture Center in New York's Long Island City.

The goal of this project was to incorporate a tertiary design element into an exhibition of artists' work which helps tell the story of tactility without detracting from individual pieces.
